Allah says in the Holy Book, in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 153 & 155:

Quran Surah Al Baqarah 2-153

“O believers! Seek comfort in patience and prayer. Allah is truly with those who are patient.” (2:153)

Quran Surah Al Baqarah 2-155

“We will certainly test you with a touch of fear and famine and loss of property, life, and crops. Give good news to those who patiently endure.” (2:155)

These golden ayahs of the Quran set a path for the believers to hold firmly to Allah’s teachings in times of distress. Allah SWT opens up about how we should be handling the hardships that hit us; by praying to Allah, seeking patience, perseverance, humility, ultimately gaining Allah’s love in this world and the next. It’s all about mastering the art of patience and gratefulness, by building our character around forgiveness and perseverance. A tough task indeed, for we human beings are easily affected by the hurdles life throws at us. The temporary setbacks in life push us towards negativity and becoming prisoners of pitch-dark depression.

We hold the bounties of this world, like money, property, family, etc. very closely to our hearts. This affection most of the times overshadows the love of Allah. From that point onwards our Sirat Al-mustaqim, the straight path of following Allah’s orders & Sunnah of Prophet, takes a dynamic shift to a path with turns and somersaults of greed, sins, miserliness and betrayal towards mankind.

Our Lord has gifted us with knowledge and wisdom to analyze life’s phases as they occur. Being present minded we need to imprint this in our minds that overcoming the difficulties with persistence and patience is the key to Allah’s blessings and our success ultimately.

Allah, the Almighty mentions in the Holy Book, in Surah Hud, verse 115:

Quran Surah Hud 11-115

“And be patient! Certainly, Allah does not discount the reward of the good-doers.” (11:115)

Allah, His Angels & The Righteous Love The Patient

An achievement indeed for all the consistent souls who know in their hearts that this world is a temporary resting place whereas our goal is the after-life.

No believer can ask for anything else from Allah if the Almighty Himself says that He loves His creation if one is patient. What an honor, just imagine, we bearing all the hardships and struggles and ultimately becoming entitled to Allah’s love and blessings in this life and the next. And to add to the rewards, the Supreme King asks His beloved Jibreel (A.S.) to shower his love and affection towards that person. Then Hazrat Jibreel A.S. says to the angels in heaven, that Allah loves this person, I love him too, so you also love him. And eventually, Allah puts the love of a patient person in the hearts of the righteous believers of this dunya. Masha Allah.

On an ordinary day, just sit back and ponder over the priorities set by all of us in order to gain success in this life. One may not find the contentment we are in quest of while performing our goals. Reason being, that we search for the love and inclusion of those who may not unfortunately fall among the righteous. And therefore, we need to redefine our definition of success, and social status standards to rectify the steps taken towards goals centered around our eternal lives.

A Happy Heart

In these COVID hit times, each and every one of us has been affected somehow and many are going through some rather testing times. Accepting all the challenges, difficulties, with a strong belief in Allah’s mercy, and plus, knowing in your heart that, indeed, the creators of the heaven and the earth is surely supporting us and has our back. Ultimately, every storm shall pass, and there is a silver lining after we fight the obstacles and hurdles of this life. We know this, but do we BELIEVE in it?

Cringing, negatively tackling scenarios, staying depressed; these behaviors only show that we are not fully understanding the aforementioned verse of Almighty:

Quran Surah Al Baqarah 2-155

“Give good news to those who patiently endure.” (2:155)

Hang in there, mate, these ups and downs are a part and parcel of life, be content with what you have, cherish the support you receive from your circle, and spend this life knowing in your heart that this world is not our final abode.

Mastering The Art of Patience

Allah says in Surah As-Sajdah, verse 24:

Quran Surah As-Sajdah 32-24

“We raised from among them leaders, guiding by Our command, when they patiently endured and firmly believed in Our signs.” (32:24)

Only, and only if we tweak our character traits, gaining a heart and mind that can behave calmly, humbly, patiently and persistently in times of trial. And as we imprint this in our brains, we eventually master the art of patience, entitling us for the leadership roles that Allah has promised us. Leaders who are mindful of how they lead, and ensuring that the means to their ends are solely based on Quranic guidance, and ways of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Limitless Rewards

Allah says in His Holy Book, in Surah Az-Zumar, verse 10:

Quran Surah Az Zumar 39-10

Say ˹O Prophet, that Allah says˺, “O My servants who believe! Be mindful of your Lord. Those who do good in this world will have a good reward. And Allah’s earth is spacious. Only those who endure patiently will be given their reward without limit.”

Our merciful, forgiving Allah has announced for His pious believers, glad tidings of limitless rewards. Now imagine that someone who has created this beautiful world, the serene heaven, how magnificent He is, and how blessed would be the rewards that He gifts us as we patiently endure.

In Surah Ali ‘Imran, verse 200, Allah SWT says:

Quran Surah Ali Imran 3-200

“O believers! Patiently endure, persevere, stand on guard, and be mindful of Allah, so you may be successful.” (3:200)

Success, victory, rewards, titles, all of this is to be weighed in terms of;

Will Allah love me if I achieve this; Will He approve of this?

My friends, be mindful of the steps you take in your personal and professional lives, so that you stay on a path of a persistent, patient, and pious believer, entitling yourself to becoming leaders, and reaping limitless rewards in this life and the next!
