Muzdalifah

Reached around 1AM.

Prayed Maghreb and Isha and started collecting stones for Jamarat (near Mina), where stoning the devil takes place. This was an interesting exercise, whereby every Hajji scours the area for stones (mostly small), to prepare for next day’s “venture”.

The organizers distributed meal boxes to the Hajjis which had some light food items. The night is supposed to be spent under the open sky, and as you can see from the photos here, the whole area was carpeted, with foam mattresses, pillows and blankets. Every Hajji was comfortable, it seemed.

We got some shut-eye (maybe about 3 hours) and  woke up early to pray Fajr. We then left for Mina. I must say this return to Mina was the worst managed stage of the whole venture. Badly organized, but we still got to our base in Mina in one piece, around 7AM.

Tawaf az-Ziyarah

Returning from the tiring trip to Muzdalifah, we stayed at the Mina Camp for the day, and decided to perform Tawaf az-Ziyarah that evening. “Ṭawāf az-Zīyārah, Ṭawāf al-‘Ifāḍah or Ṭawāf al-Ḥajj is performed after casting stones, sacrificing animals (hadi) shaving the hair.”
