Caliph Ali رضي الله عنه was indeed a very pious, humble, generous, brave, fearless and an intelligent person who loved the Holy Prophet ﷺ dearly. His achievements and accomplishments for spreading Islam are written in the books of history with golden words. His words of wisdom are a beacon of light for generations to come, his sacrifices in history for prevention of bloodshed in the holy cities can never be forgotten.
He is the compiler of the Qur’an, the only man in history to marry two daughters of a Prophet, the third caliph of this nation, the one to be given glad tidings of Jannah whilst he walked on earth many times by the Prophet ﷺ, the human that even the angels were shy of, the one who left everything to migrate for the sake of Allah twice, the leader praised for his extreme generosity and beauty, and the noble soul who came to the aid of the believers in every occasion. What a great leader, leading by example, and ultimately proving the stories written in the Christian predictions of a simple saint conquering Palestine, and after looking at Umar رضي الله عنه, his plain, simple clothes, his needlessness of grandeur, they knew that it could only be him who fit the description. The first caliph of the Rashidun Caliphate, a companion and through his daughter Aisha, a father-in-law of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He has the honor of being one of the first converts to Islam and supported the Prophet ﷺ wholeheartedly; physically, emotionally, financially, by being there for him at times of ease and conflicts. A kindhearted, sensitive soul, empathetic towards all, while an epitome of strength, resilience, uprightness, and just towards all who were a threat to the Prophetic mission or in the spreading of Islam.
Time and Space are the two main dimensions that are under consideration. Doubtfulness, confusion, unclarity; these are the emotions felt by the humans whenever they begin to understand the origin of this universe or the essence of the Almighty. Only a partial understanding of this universe can be achieved with our limited knowledge. No matter how advanced we become in terms of technology, we cannot remove the barriers of our limited scientific command to comprehend the essence of the Almighty. Who created Allah? Where is Allah? How is He the first and the last? Looking for and Finding Allah. Knowing Allah.
In the light of Quran and Sunnah, husband and wife initiate a family. Therefore, it is essential that they develop an understanding of each other’s personality, and respect the informal guidelines governing their bond. This, in addition to mutual acceptance, unburdened by irrational expectations and demands, can lead to a blissful life. If Allah bestows this grace, then there are certain legal obligations as well. Both husband and wife are to be a source of satisfaction to each other. In addition, the man is responsible for the material sustenance of the family.
Countless times the Holy Qur’an guides us about itself being a book of blessing and mercy, so that we can be alert and mindful at all times of the consequences of our actions. Allah promises to us that if we follow His commands, do good deeds and remember our motive of coming to this earth then Allah will most definitely show His mercy to us and even reward us immensely here and in the here-after.
